Excellent sounding Surround production !
This recording offers an unusual selection of Dietrich Buxtehude’s vocal music performed by the Grammy-winning ensemble Theatre of Voices conducted by Paul Hillier. Among these rarely heard works with texts in Swedish and Latin, we find cantatas in the form of virtuoso concertos, as well as arias and chorale settings and Buxtehude’s only work in the stile antico, the Missa alla brevis.
The recording location is Sct. Mariæ Kirke, Helsingør, on 11-14 February 2010, which is the church in Denmark, where Buxtehude served as organ player. Recorded in TimbreMusic’s recording standard, the DXD audio format (Digital eXtreme Definition), 352.8 kHz / 24bit, using 5 x DPA 4006TL, 2 x DPA 4015TL and 2 x Neumann U89, DAD AX24 converters/preamps and Pyramix DAW system.
